Sunriver (part 2)

Aside from biking, playing and swimming, we did do some exploring…

We took one day and drove up to Paulina Peak to explore the Newbury Crater, obsidian flow.

We followed our hike up with a picnic lunch at Paulina Lake.

not a bad spot for a picnic

of course this one wanted to get completely covered in sand
We did some swimming at the SHARC -- the crazy new pool complex, complete with watersides, a splash pad, lazy river and obstacle courses in the water.  Kids loved it, parents were overwhelmed by it.
guess I was too busy making sure the littles stayed afloat to take any pics of this place, because this was the only one I got!  This place will be amazing when the kids can be trusted to swim on their own.

We took a long float trip down the Deschutes River.  Fun!

We had one big raft, and a 2 man canoe, and we switched off who sat where.  A great way to spend a day!

we all made it safely to the end!

We spent one morning rescuing frogs.  Apparently these little guys climb out of the lake, and try to make it across the bike path and road to the meadow -- which is not that close for those little legs.  So we grabbed 'em ups, kept those bags open so they could breathe, and rode them across the road and let them go in the meadow.  Hope that's where they really were trying to go!

check out those frogs!
that's a big wish!
We headed into Bend for lunch one day (while Nanny stayed back with the kiddos -- thanks Nanny!) and experienced one of the many breweries that Bend has to offer.

The dads rode into the village one morning with the kids for donuts.  They loved it!

there happened to be a huge bouncy house area, that the kids happened to beg to do, and the parents happened to give in
And then the dads took the older kids "tubing" at the sledding area

Nanny & Dzia Dzia gave the kids each a name license plate for their bikes.  Awesome!

one final bike ride up and down the street before we said our goodbyes!
saying bye to our awesome 17 Tan Oak Ln house!
How could this week have come and gone already?!?  So much fun to spend time together as a family.  Wonder where our next adventure together will be?  Thinking about Europe….. :)
