Mother's Day

Mother's Day -- I took the kids to my parents for dinner the night before Mother's Day, as Eddy was still out of town so why not?  It was a great chance to celebrate my mama, by having her cook dinner for me and my kids.  Ha!  Thanks mom. We love having you guys close by!

And Eddy got home late that night, so we awoke to some seriously excited kiddos -- who couldn't wait to shower me with their school made mothers day gifts.  I felt so loved!

And after a yummy breakfast, off we went into the city for the Giants game.  Because that's what every mother chooses to do for Mother's Day, right? :)  It was also Little League day at the Giants game, so there were plenty of mom's in attendance.  We went with our friends the Penners (minus Alicia due to her calf injury days prior, and she felt hobbling on crutches through the city wasn't her idea of fun -- wimp)
It was a fun day, and every employee at the park wished me a happy day, which was super nice.  But then the best part, was the kids and the moms got to run the bases after the game.  Yea!!

there we go, running the bases
KK just took off -- and Ryan and Alejandro are fighting for foot placement on 2nd base
These two have given me the best, hardest job I've ever known.  So proud to be their Mama!

a little bit of lately

Man, I blink and a month goes by.  How does that happen?
Well, here is a little bit of our lately....

My mom and I took the kids to another great children's theater play in Berkeley, for what has become our at least annual tradition.  This show was Elephant & Piggie.  The books are well loved by my kids.  And the play was really funny for all of us.  Well done Bay Area Children's Theater.  Well done.

why do both of my kids have their fingers in their mouths?

Lately, this one has been my lunch date.  Mostly at home.  But man is it a good time.

And she's getting really in to her drawings...this one is a beach scene.  Can't you tell?  The palm tree, the ocean, the sand, and the pink sky?  Better than I could do, for sure.

We picked up 2 of Ry's friends from school one day and hit up the park before coming home to play. And this is where I immediately found them all the minute we got to the park.

Eddy went to Atlanta for a few days for a conference, so while we were manning the fort at home, Ryan brought down our two dragons (he constructed them from a kit he got for Christmas) so they would keep us safe while dad was away.

These two sure can go at it at times, taunting and screaming and what not.  But then there are times when they make up their own games, and laugh until they can't breathe, and it's just plain fun.

And they are both back in the pool for swim lessons.

One morning on our walk to school, Ry was telling me about how they were learning about the life cycle of butterflies in class.  And we got to talking, and came up with the idea to do a mini-research report on Monarch Butterflies.  So we checked out books at the library, and Googled them, and Ryan drew a picture and wrote a few facts and then shared his report with his class.  So proud of this guy!  Let's hope his love of learning stays strong through the coming years!

but i'd be ok if their love for sticking out their tongues for the camera fades quickly
And just a few more silly shots....
