As we left San Diego, we drove up the coast to get to Carlsbad instead of hopping on I-5. Just for a change of scenery. We stopped in La Jolla, took a hike in Torrey Pines, and had lunch in Del Mar. Truly a beautiful area of this state. If only money grew on trees, we would LOVE to live there. But instead, maybe we will just convince the kiddos to attend UCSD for college so we can visit often.

We stopped at the Torrey Pines golf course just to take a look -- Eddy was having a moment, drooling. We will just have to come back soon so he can play!
Then we stopped to stretch our legs and took a short 2ish mile hike at Torrey Pines State Natural Preserve. It was really neat. Much different flora and fauna than we imagined, but a really great view. And the kids were troopers.
