nine months

Baby Kaitlyn has turned into a fun, curious, fast and furious (not in a bad sense!) 9 month old.

  • She has become VERY mobile in the last few weeks, and isn't as much of a fan of being held as she once was.
  • She babbles constantly, and can definitely say "mama" but it doesn't seem purposeful yet
  • She's crawling (all the way up the stairs with some close supervision), pulling up to standing everywhere she can think of, and changing this girl's diaper has become an all out wrestling match!
  • She learned how to clap her hands and wave hi (which is an entire arm motion not just the hand, along with a giant squeal), and just today started doing the Indian war cry over her mouth, and thinks it's all pretty fun.
  • She has learned "so big", and loves when Ryan and I mimic her actions.
  • She has remained a fairly picky eater...she'll eat most pureed foods, but isn't a fan of many finger foods yet.  We'll keep trying, but I'm already picturing the struggles down the road.
  • She LOVES soft things in her face...as in, she sees a stuffed animal on the ground and she crawls right up to it and digs her face in for a good snuggle...and then we often hear a muffled laugh coming from her.  It's hilarious.
  • She has 4 teeth (two on top, two on bottom), takes 2 naps per day, and has been sleeping through the night for 2 months now.  Thankthelord.

At her 9 month well check, she weighed in at just over 18 lbs (50th %) and 29 inches long (90th %), and the doctor was quite amazed with how unafraid of strangers she seemed...as she was grabbing his glasses off his face the minute he walked in the room.  He praised me saying she seems very comfortable and we must be doing everything right as her parents....and I looked at him and laughed, and said it just means we're in trouble when she's a teenager.
