Kay Gray 3.0

This sweet little nugget turned 3 on Friday.  And like a switch, she flipped from sweet to sassy, and "no" has become her most favorite of words!  She crosses her arms, flips her smile to a frown, and pouts like I have never before seen.  She does this so often, that the rest of us in this family immediately say "Do a Kaitlyn" and we all 3 cross our arms and pout, and then crack up.  And she wines a bit more at our behavior, before she cracks up with us.  At least she still has her love of laughter.  We can live with the sass, for now anyway. 

So what did this girl want for her party?  A pink party.  And that's exactly what she got.  She woke up to pink streamers decorating the kitchen and family room on the morning of her birthday, and shortly after breakfast a pink and purple bouncy castle was delivered to the back yard.  Surprise!  Then we picked up some balloons, forced her to take a quick afternoon nap, and then the real party started.  It was perfect -- a small family and close family friend party.  7 kids in total -- 5 girls, 2 boys (we invited a friend for Ry so he wasn't too overwhelmed with the pink -- but if Kaitlyn had it her way NO boys would have been allowed, because "NO boys can come to a pink party" -- where do they learn this stuff?  Good thing she was too busy playing to keep good on her desires, and the boys were allowed to stay)

bouncy castle, on the "drought grass".  Our fingers are crossed for some serious rain this winter. 

at one point or another, we all got in the bouncy house.  It was super fun, I'm not gonna lie.  

my college roommates Lindsey and Megan -- both of whom have 2 girls each.  Perfect friends to have over for a pink party.  Can't believe how quickly our kiddos are growing up!

Megan, the middle school teacher and soon to be librarian extraordinaire -- sat at the kids table and had them all laughing nonstop.  Love this face on you Megs!  Don't hate me for including this pic.  

After a lot of bouncing, we forced the kids to take a break and eat some dinner.  And then it was time for the cake.  Well, cupcakes with pink frosting and pink strawberry ice cream that is.

And then of course came the presents.  This girl wasted no time tearing through them all.

 All in all, a fantastic way to celebrate turning 3.  We love you with all of our might Kaitlyn Grace.  And we hope this year to come is the best one yet.

Kaitlyn's Birthday Questions: Age 3

(a lot of these she was able to answer quickly, without hesitation.  A few she needed some suggestions for -- but with most suggestions she said yes, so I guess she just doesn't have much of an opinion yet on certain topics)

1. What is your favorite color?  Pink

2. What is your favorite toy? Ellie the elephant

3. What is your favorite fruit? Strawberries

4. What is your favorite vegetable? Green beans (really?)

5. What is your favorite TV show? Paw Patrol

6. What is your favorite move? Frozen -- although she pretty much nodded her head yes to anything we suggested as a possible movie favorite.  So we get it, she likes movies.  Not picky.

7. What is your favorite thing to wear?  A dress and a tutu

8. What is your favorite animal?  Elephant

9. What is your favorite song?   Do you want to build a snowman, although Eddy and I think Taylor Swift's Bad Blood comes in close second.  The girl knew the words to that song before I had even heard it!

10. What is your favorite book?  If you Give a Pig a Party -- along with the 10 other books we suggested

11. Who is your best friend?  Mommy.  Seriously, unprompted.

12. What is your favorite snack?  Rainbow goldfish

13. What is your favorite drink?  Orange juice -- simply because it's not offered all that often

14. What is your favorite breakfast?  Waffles

15. What is your favorite lunch?  Yogurt and fruit

16. What is your favorite dinner? Mac N Cheese 

17. What is your favorite game?  Candyland Frozen Game (that she just got for her birthday)

18. What is your favorite thing to play outside?  Riding bikes

19. What is your favorite holiday?  Valentine's Day  (really?)
