When we were younger, and child-less, President's Weekend always meant a trip to the snow for a ski day or two. Now that we're older, and wiser, and have 2 kids that are not so patient in that Tahoe traffic, we choose to stay home for major holiday weekends. Plus, the weather was so great last weekend, it felt like Spring! So we opted to venture into the city on Saturday morning, for an urban adventure instead of the mountains. And we had a marvelous time.
We read about a new playground renovation in Sunset magazine last year...at Dolores Park in the Mission District. Yup, that's right, we decided to head into the city, to go to a playground. Man our lives have changed! But it was a fabulous playground. One we will definitely go back to. Auntie Dana met up with us there, and we all had a great time exploring.
Enjoy the lovely iphone photos....a real camera is just one more thing to carry these days, and doesn't often happen anymore.

After we got our wiggles out, and once Kaitlyn decided it was time to snooze on my chest in the Ergo, we walked down a few blocks to grab lunch...at a great little pizza place called Delfina...we dined at a table on the sidewalk, just like people without kids do. And our kids were so well behaved, it made me proud. Great pizza, great people watching. Just great. And because we were feeling so good, we all decided it was time for a treat at one of our favorite ice cream places of all time...the Bi-Rite Creamery. Salted caramel, meyer lemon, coffee toffee...can't go wrong with flavors like that. Although Ry went for our favorite stand by...Mint Chip. And that wasn't bad either!
Funny thing, we realized this was Ryan's first ice cream cone ever, as he ate the ice cream off the top and then asked "How am I supposed to eat the inside?". Too cute.
