Ahhhh, the island life. We could get used to that! We spent last week on the island of Maui with my brother Derek and his family. It was Ryan's 2nd trip to Hawaii, and he was a MUCH better traveler for this trip. The 5 hour plane flight was a piece of cake with him, with the help of plenty of snacks and an iPhone and iPad (thanks auntie Dana!). We spent the week pretty much just hanging out...the weather didn't cooperate for us a few of the days, as in we got trapped in a downpour after walking a few doors down to the playground nearby. Ryan loved sliding down the slide, which had turned into a water slide at that point, while Kim and I were shivering under the "shade" of a nearby tree trying to stay dry. After realizing it wasn't going to stop raining any time soon, we walked home splashing in the puddles and then went swimming, because what else do you do on vacation when it's raining?
When the rain did let up, we loved playing at the beach (I even got in and went snorkeling 2 days and managed to see a giant sea turtle both times!), swimming in the pool, watching for Humpback whales which we saw almost every day from our balcony at the condo, breakfast at the Gazebo, dinner at Sansei, the boys got in a round of golf, and otherwise just hanging out together. We also exchanged date nights...Derek and Kim got to go out and celebrate their 9th anniversary, and Eddy and I got a night off one night as well. A nice treat. Of course it was great cousin time as well, and aside from Connor and Ryan being typical toddlers and wanting the same toy most of the time, they all got along great.
Can't wait to go back!
