We had Ryan and his cousin Alexandra baptized in a small ceremony yesterday, surrounded by our families and close friends who were able to come. It ended up being a very special day for all of us. Father Ray, who performed the ceremony, is a close friend of Auntie Dana's, and he spoke some wonderful words that helped us all reflect a bit on our faith, on the beauty and innocence of children, and on God's love. The ceremony was short and sweet, which was perfect for Ryan, as he sat in my lap reading a book and every few seconds would yell out "Car!" or "Choo Choo!", pointing to the pages in the book. Thank goodness for small private ceremonies, can't imagine how that would have gone over in a church full of people. But at least he sat when he was supposed to. When it came time for the actual baptism, the part involving the water, well...you'll get a good idea of how that went down in the pictures below.
So thank you to all of our family and friends who helped us celebrate such a special day in Ryan's and Alexandra's lives. It is one that will not be forgotten! And I have to give a special shout out to Uncle Chris, as he returned from his 2nd tour of duty in Iraq about 2 weeks ago. We are so thankful to have him home safe and sound, and so glad he could be here to celebrate his daughter's special day.
