food for the fourth

Here it is, July 4th.  We decided to skip the trip to Tahoe this year to avoid the long, traffic filled, drive home.  And instead we've spent the weekend just catching up...sleeping in a bit, washing cars and windows, watching some movies, going swimming, and feasting on the true American dinner of burgers and corn on the cob.  So I thought I'd catch you all up on Ryan, and his latest eating adventures.  We've begun the world of finger foods!  He's doing great with the puffs (the easier step before Cheerios), loves bananas, and although not so sure about avocado he sure loves to make guacamole with his hands.  Apricots on the other hand....that's a different story.
mmmmm, guacamole
check out all my teeth!
6 in all, although more are probably not far off.  why does it seem like he's constantly teething?  I guess that's what babies do.

So my mom came over the other day, and we made Apricot Jam.  Pretty easy (with mom's help and expertise of course), and we had some apricots left over and thought we'd see what the little man thought of them...
first bite, not so tasty
they kinda make your mouth pucker, huh buddy?
"Mom, I'm tapping out.  Please don't make me eat any more!"

oh well, at least we got some tasty jam out of it

And on a side note, Ryan wanted you all to see his new car seat.  We finally had to upgrade, as he's outgrown his infant seat.  This new one better last us longer than 8 months...
