Easter at Auntie Judy & Uncle Joe's

After we got all cleaned up from our morning adventures, we hit the road to Eddy's Aunt and Uncle's house in San Mateo.  It was a smaller group than usual, but dominated by the kiddos this year.  There was another egg hunt, some singing along with the movie Frozen, and some great food.  Thanks again for hosting Joe and Judy!!

Easter morning

We hosted my parents for dinner the night before Easter, they spent the night, and then joined in the festivities the next morning at our house.

Let the egg hunt begin...

the unruly lawn made for great egg hiding
we hid real eggs for Ryan, plastic ones for Kaitlyn -- but she kept finding and wanting to keep the real ones.  Looks like we'll have to go all real eggs next year

After all eggs were accounted for, and we filled our tummies with scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and fresh croissants, we hit the trail for a family hike in the Benicia hills.  A gorgeous morning!
when on a hike with kids, make sure you bring bubbles.  Thanks Nanny!

we happened upon a small lake, perfect for throwing rocks in
don't judge her outfit.  Just don't do it.
we also found a really cool rope swing, that was on a really steep hill…and Ryan just had to try it.  I was shocked, but he did great!  With daddy's help getting him on and off of course.
And what better way to end our morning adventure, than a few slides down the cement slide at the park near our house.  This slide is steep, and fast, and the kids (Eddy included) love it!

eggs and egg hunting

We dyed our Easter eggs last Friday, for which Ryan needed almost no help this year (and Kaitlyn was a different story…a total danger to both eggs and cups with dye, we had to keep her occupied in other ways).
sorry for the blurry pic, but you get the idea about Kaitlyn and her dangerous self

On Saturday, we went to the Queens house for their annual easter egg hunt extravaganza.  They toss hundreds of plastic, candy filled eggs into their yard, and let the kiddos run wild.  It's always a good time.

date night

Eddy and I got the chance to go to my friend Laurie's wedding on Saturday night…and even better, we got to leave the kids with my parents for the whole night!  It's always fun to get dressed up, and celebrate the beginning for someone else.  Congrats Laurie & Phil!

catching up with high school friends -- we look so much better now!
And these were two happy campers the next day, spoiled with attention from their grandparents.

bumblebees and ladybugs

My mom loves the theater.  She will go to a play, any play, any chance she gets.  And so when she found out about the Bay Area Children's Theater, she jumped at the chance to take Ryan to his first play.  It was a musical, based on the book Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy (which I had never heard of, but we bought one before the play and Ryan instantly fell in love and we have read it just about every single night since we got it).  And Saturday was show day…

2nd row seats, thanks Nanny!
loving it!

It really is a super cute book, and was a great play.  Perfect for Ryan's age.  We had a great time.  Thanks so much for a fun treat Nanny!
